Santa Pola’s salt flats and the famous pink lagoon at Torrevieja are not the same stop. A day trip from Alicante can combine the southern Costa Blanca, but only if you plan the locations explicitly. The bookable sunset visit is at the Pink Lagoon and does not by itself provide transport from Alicante.
Why the names cause mistakes
Santa Pola has its own protected salt-flat landscape and salt museum. Torrevieja has the Lagunas de La Mata y Torrevieja natural park; the saline lagoon associated with the pink colour is there. A listing that says “Pink Lagoon” should therefore not be read as a Santa Pola excursion merely because both places are linked with salt production and birdlife.

Choose the guided sunset visit when interpretation and being at the lagoon at the planned time matter most, and you are prepared to arrange the journey to its meeting point. Choose an independent day when you want Santa Pola’s harbour or salt museum as well and need control over the order.

What not to promise
The water does not have an identical colour every day. Light, weather and water conditions change what you see, so a sunset booking is not a guarantee of an intensely pink photograph. If cava is included, designate a driver who does not drink or choose another transport arrangement.
